About this open call
What this event is about
Driver hours are lost queueing at container terminals because a slot booked the day before does not survive a late vessel. We want the delay visible early enough to re-sequence the day's calls.
What we are looking for
Companies working with terminal and gate data who can forecast a turnaround window hours ahead and propose a re-sequence a planner will accept.
Problem statements
The slot is a promise about a ship
An appointment booked the day before assumes a berthing time that moves. We keep the slot, the terminal keeps the vessel, and the truck arrives on time for a queue.
The queue eats the rest of the day
Two hours at a gate takes the driver's remaining hours with it, and the collections planned behind it are dropped. The cost lands on the network, not on the gate.
Re-sequencing costs three phone calls
A planner who suspects a delay has to ring the terminal, the customer and the driver before anything can move. By then the truck has left.

FAQs
Do we need a data feed from the terminals?
No. Assume you get what we get — gate timestamps, our own bookings and public vessel positions. An entry that depends on a feed a terminal would have to grant is scored on what it does without it.
How far ahead does the forecast have to be?
Far enough to move a call before the truck leaves, so hours rather than minutes. State the accuracy you hold at four hours and at twelve.
How many terminals does the pilot cover?
Two of the four in the data, chosen once the forecasts are scored. You do not need to cover all four to enter.
